Nearly one million children die each year due to vaccine-preventable diseases. One of the major reasons for this is the lack of access to high-quality vaccines. Vaccine supply chains have a lot of existing issues such as cold-chain failures, expired products, and counterfeit products, and these failures have enormous costs associated with them. The platform ensures that the original product manufactured by the Manufacturer reaches the end beneficiary by identifying each unit as a unique digital ID and storing this information in a database so as to avoid any duplication and ensures end-to-end visibility and accountability, where different stakeholders can participate and collaborate over one single decentralized network. This makes VaccineLedger very easy to adopt and scale without having the need to replace existing systems and can easily integrate with them (SDG3 indicators: 3.b.1, 3.b.2) . Vaccine supply chains are complex and fragmented. Our goal is to innovate the supply chains, especially the Vaccine supply chain to have complete visibility and transparency across the various stakeholders, thus our platform VaccineLedger ensures all stakeholders have complete visibility of all vaccines and other life sciences products at different stages, using blockchain, and also predict and prevent failures in supply chains. (SDG9 indicators 9.5.1, 9.5.2) Vaccine delivery becomes more expensive due to wastage of vaccines, nearly 50%-60% of vaccines lose their efficacy because of cold-chain failures, however, supply-chain failures account for nearly 80% of the costs of the vaccines. VaccineLedger keeps track of all the batches and their expiry dates in order to prevent any usage of expired or counterfeit products, thus ensuring that the beneficiary receives certified products and if these losses are not prevented, then it becomes even more difficult to vaccinate people quickly and efficiently. (SDG12 indicators: 12.3.1 (a), 12.4.1)

The users on our platform are supply chain managers, operational teams, logistics partners and so on. The user onboarding in each of these different types of users is carried out by a two step process Step 1: User registers using name, official emails and/or phone numbers for verification and other identification details when needed. Step 2: An admin reviews and approves the users. The safety and wellbeing of those we work with is of paramount importance to us. This includes staff, and the people we work with. We have a zero-tolerance approach towards all forms of unethical behavior. We also have a zero tolerance towards bribes, facilitation payments, tax evasion and money laundering. We will do all we can to prevent financing or the support of terrorist organizations and will not appoint or employ anyone that could reasonably be suspected to be connected to a terrorist group.
