Supporting climate change mitigation is inherent to the mission and design of our solution. By helping harmonise data from different registries in use across carbon credit markets and making it easily accessible, the CAD Trust helps progress the following targets: - 13.2.1 Integrate climate change measures into policy and planning - 13. a Implement the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - 13.b.1 Promote mechanisms to raise capacity for planning and management CAD Trust aims to support the growth and oversight of high-integrity carbon credit markets to finance climate solutions. We enable governments to improve their understanding of and access data from existing mechanisms and help design globally interoperable data frameworks to enable future scale. We also pay special attention to supporting the operationalization of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which enables international cooperation between countries to tackle climate change. Our goals include increasing transparency and access to globally standardized carbon credit data, which we see as crucial to informed regulations and NDCs and to unlocking finance. Our core public good contributions toward these goals are a public, decentralised metadata infrastructure and a common data model, which helps aggregate and harmonise carbon credit data from diverse registry systems used across compliance and voluntary carbon markets. These DPGs improve interoperability between diverse registry systems and enable stakeholders across the public and private sectors to make informed decisions. The aggregated data on CAD Trust, and the free public tools we offer (API, Data Dashboard, data model) can further support planning and management by less well-resourced governments. For example, they can help with visibility and oversight of carbon credit projects on a jurisdictional level. Such tracking tools, while rudimentary, can assist developing countries in identifying needs, formulating their mitigation and adaptation plans, and taking informed decisions about carbon market development and regulation. In 2026, we are also working with several governments to enable data reconciliation or automated exchanges between registries used by independent programs and government systems. The concept for CAD Trust was incubated under the World Bank's Climate Warehouse Program, with links to other multilateral organisations under the Digital4Climate umbrella. In recent years, we have also partnered with multilateral development banks, international organisations like UNDP, and capacity building providers like the Article 6 Implementation Partnership to develop knowledge materials and deliver training on topics of data standardization, registry interoperability, UNFCCC reporting, and similar.
