Rahat has been supporting vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters (Target 1.5) through cash and voucher assistance programs, promoting financial resilience and empowering individuals to make their own recovery decisions. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rahat efficiently distributesd food supplies to vulnerable communities, prioritizing those with small children, single women, and the elderly. Working with Dhana Yoga Foundation, Rahat provided food packets to marginalized communities in Chitwan who lacked sufficient harvests. This initiative contributes to Target 2.1 of ending hunger and ensuring year-round access to nutritious food. Rahat has been collaborating with local partners to support women's maternity needs by providing nutritious food packages in remote mountainous regions like Humla and Jumla. The ongoing efforts aim to reduce child mortality and promote child development (Target 2.2). The active involvement of local female partners in Rahat's pilot projects enhances digital literacy and familiarity with mobile phone usage (Target 5.b). As a cash and voucher assistance system, Rahat utilizes local traders and institutions to distribute relief packages during disaster recovery. This approach enables local businesses to continue supplying products and generating income, alleviating economic burdens on impoverished individuals and stimulating the local economy.

Rahat currently relies on the local SMS service provider in each region. When deploying Rahat in different instances, it is necessary to establish a connection with the local SMS service provider and use AWS S3 for file storage. Additionally, Rahat is optionally compatible with OpenAI (CI/CD Automation), Google Sheets & Google Auth (for data import), Twilio APIs, and can be integrated with open-source cloud communication platforms like Somleng (https://www.somleng.org) for SMS services.

Rahat software prioritizes security and privacy by providing comprehensive documentation and guidelines to mitigate potential risks. We strictly adhere to best practices for privacy and data security, aligning with Nepali laws and regulations regarding our relief distribution service. It is important to note that each organization implementing the Rahat software is responsible for adhering to these best practices. As each instance of the software is locally owned and maintained, Rahat does not have access to individual organization databases. Personally identifiable information (PII) data is not publicly available and can only be accessed by authorized personnel with specific roles. For instance, vendors are restricted from accessing KYC information/documentation. User access and privileges are carefully managed to restrict access to specific types of information and features based on individual roles. Rahat has implemented a privacy policy, which can be found at https://rahat.io/privacy-policy, further ensuring the protection of user data and privacy.
