Description
Agrontology is a description vocabulary defined in the Web Ontology Language (OWL), providing a set of domain-specific properties for agri-food concepts. It is used, for instance, in the AGROVOC thesaurus by FAO to express domain-specific relations between concepts.

The AGROVOC thesaurus is the main "user" of the Agrontology, therefore the Agrontology is used by all the institutions that use AGROVOC, but it can be used by any other product. We do not have a list of all the institutions in the world that use AGROVOC and/or the Agrontology: they are open publicly accessible resources that can be reused without any kind of registration or authentication or acknowledgement. But we do know that many governmental bodies in FAO's areas of interest use AGROVOC and therefore the Agrontology. An example are the institutions that are part of the AGROVOC editorial network: the network includes government departments, national research centers, national libraries, Universities and Academies under the aegis of relevant Ministries from Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, China, Czechia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Iran, Italy, Moldova, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda.
